Charlotte is a Northern Virginia native who lived in Colorado before finally settling in Reston. She had never expected to find a place that combined the walkability she loved in Arlington with the outdoor adventure she found out west. Now she lives in a town that’s so cool that she can paddleboard to restaurants. Charlotte is a professional photographer who operated a successful photo business for ten years. She has a masters degree in instructional technology from the University of Virginia and a background in web publishing. You’ll usually find Charlotte wandering around Reston with her camera, photographing anything she finds interesting (which is just about everything). She lives with her husband and two young kids in their crazy but perfect Reston home.
MICHELLE SCHOENING
Writer, Graphic Designer
Seven years ago, Michelle moved to Reston from San Francisco and hasn’t looked back. Her time in Northern California cultivated a somewhat insufferable love for food and wine. Luckily, this trait is proving useful as Modern Reston navigates the Northern Virginia food scene. A Creative Director with over 16 years of experience in the design field, Michelle also brings a highly-tuned eye to Modern Reston. Her love of design crosses all disciplines — from graphic to architectural — and she has a particular fondness for the retro vibe of Reston’s home design. On any given day, you can find Michelle tangled up in leashes while walking her dog and wrangling her two kids.
MIKE PRITCHARD
Tech Genius
Mike is the software engineering guru who built this website and continues to update it with the latest technology. During the week, Mike works in upper-level tech management for a company in Northern Virginia. On the weekends, he is often inventing a new gadget or paddling around Reston lakes with his wife and two kids.
