You may be familiar with The Wine Cabinet in North Point Village Center, but you may not know that along with the many events they host in-store, they also offer in-home wine tasting parties.
The Wine Cabinet is a boutique wine shop that prides itself on seeking out the highest quality wine and beer at the best prices. They work hard to cultivate a neighborhood vibe where customers can come in to taste new arrivals, snack on tasty treats and socialize.
Weekly, they host Thursday, Friday and Saturday tastings and once a month their wine club meets up. But if you are looking to organize something special for a birthday, anniversary or just a random Saturday night, their in-home wine tasting parties make for an easy, no-fuss, but highly impressive shin-dig.
On a recent evening, hosts Alisa Ades and Annmarie Swope gathered their friends and neighbors together to shake off the frigid temps and to bring a little liveliness to the the long winter. In advance, they met with Dave Mackie, the Chief Research Associate at The Wine Cabinet to discuss how to organize the tasting. They requested a wide variety of wines with unique pairings. The hosts also expressed their desire to start with a sparkling wine to kick off the tasting and to end with a port with the hopes people would stay awhile, enjoy, and relax.
Dave guided them in choosing a broad range of wines from different grapes and different regions. He also suggested offbeat pairings, such as popcorn, peanut brittle, and chocolates to make the evening unique and memorable.
Wines and Pairings:
Thibaut Janisson Blanc de Chardonnay (Virginia Brut) with popcorn
Matchbook Chardonnay with peanut brittle
Cline Mourvedre Ancient Vines with Mayan truffles
Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre Italian Red with sea salt caramels
Warre’s Warrior Porto with blue cheese
In addition to providing the wines, The Wine Cabinet comes to your home, sets up and stays to conduct the tasting. Dave described each varietal and flavor-profile as well as how the taste of the food would effect the wines.
Both Annmarie and Alisa agreed that the evening was a smashing success. Guests had the opportunity to taste somewhat lesser known wines, indulge in rich, sweet, and salty pairings and socialize in the comfort of a friend’s home. They were impressed at the level of professionalism and knowledge The Wine Cabinet offered.
If you are interested in learning more about tasting events, contact The Wine Cabinet. Prices vary depending on wine selections.
