Almost two years after Reston’s Lakeside Inn closed, a new restaurant is finally ready to open in its location on Lake Thoreau. Red’s Table is a family-owned, local restaurant that is scheduled to open this Monday, September 7, 2015, for Labor Day. It will be open for dinner only over the next few weeks, but expects to offer lunch by late September.
Yesterday the owners of Red’s Table invited the Modern Reston team to their restaurant for a tour and an opening celebration. We were truly impressed with the restaurant’s beautiful design and friendly, knowledgeable staff. The outdoor seating is particularly gorgeous. Red’s Table is sure to become one of the most popular spots in town.
Here’s a preview of what you’ll see when you go!
As you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by a large sign with the restaurant’s rustic logo. Red’s Table carries this rustic feel throughout the decor of the restaurant, to connect visitors with the natural surroundings of the lake.
Outside the lobby is a casual patio. It is a first-come, first-served lounge area where people can have drinks while waiting for a table. The patio will also offer a full menu for visitors who prefer to dine on the outdoor sofas.
The first table in the main dining room is referred to as “Red’s Table,” and is surrounded by photos of the owners’ grandfather, “Red.” It feels like a cozy family dining room. There is also an enclosed dining room on the other side of the restaurant, which can be reserved for private events.
The interior of the restaurant is a single, open space with tall ceilings and an open kitchen.
The highlight of the restaurant is the back patio, which sits right next to Lake Thoreau.
Every outdoor dining table has a beautiful view of the water.
The indoor seats have a great view of the lake, too, thanks to huge windows facing the water. Interior dining tables can be reserved in advance, but the outdoor seating is all first-come, first-served.
